Shipping policy

Last updated: 31 August 2026

This policy explains delivery and collection arrangements for goods purchased from The Trustee for THE RUSSELL LEWIS FAMILY TRUST, trading as Mining & Industrial Surplus and West Oz Surplus Machinery and Equipment (ABN 58 003 810 363).

It forms part of our Terms of Service. Returns, faulty goods and transit-damage remedies are also covered by our Refund Policy. Nothing in this policy excludes or limits a right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Arranged customer collection is from 38 Burlington Street, Naval Base WA 6165, Australia, unless we confirm another location in writing. Dispatch origin can vary within our Western Australian operations. Where origin materially affects a freight quote or delivery arrangement, we will identify it before accepting the order.

DELIVERY OPTIONS AND FREIGHT RATES

For products eligible for standard checkout, freight charges are calculated using our current blanket freight rates based on the total weight of the order and the applicable shipping zone. The freight charge will be displayed at checkout before you place the order.

Heavy, long, oversized, palletised, unusually fragile, dangerous or restricted goods may require an individual freight quote instead of a standard weight-based rate. The quote may depend on packed dimensions and weight, destination, access conditions, unloading requirements, special handling and carrier availability.

If an additional freight quote is required after an order is placed, we will provide it for your approval before dispatch. If you do not accept the additional charge, you may cancel the unshipped order and receive a refund. We will not dispatch an order or add a freight charge that you have not accepted.

Please contact us before ordering if you need a particular freight service, insurance arrangement, delivery date or special handling method. We will confirm in writing what we can provide.

PREPARING AND DISPATCHING ORDERS

Preparation varies because our inventory includes small parcels, one-off used equipment and heavy industrial goods that may need inspection, protective packing, a pallet or lifting equipment. We do not apply one fixed handling time to every order.

Within two business days after receiving an online order, we will either provide an estimated dispatch or collection-ready date or contact you for information needed to prepare that estimate. For manually quoted freight, the written quote will include an estimated dispatch or collection-ready date before we accept the order.

We will notify you if a material delay arises. Delivery dates and transit times are estimates unless we expressly agree to a date in writing. If we cannot supply an accepted, paid order within the agreed time, or otherwise within a reasonable time, you may cancel the unfulfilled part and receive a prompt refund unless we agree with you on a revised date. This does not limit any other right or remedy available under law.

WAREHOUSE COLLECTION

Collection is available by arrangement from 38 Burlington Street, Naval Base WA 6165. Please wait until we tell you the order is ready and confirm a collection time before attending.

Bring your order confirmation and identification. If another person or carrier is collecting, provide their name and authority to collect. For heavy or oversized goods, we will agree on a safe loading plan in advance. You may need a suitable vehicle, rated restraints and appropriate unloading arrangements at the destination.

DELIVERY INFORMATION

Please provide a complete and accurate delivery address, postcode, contact name and telephone number. Tell us before dispatch about any delivery restrictions or special instructions. We cannot guarantee that an address can be changed after a carrier booking has been made, but we will try to assist.

For remote areas, mine sites, construction sites and controlled-access facilities, please tell us about:

  • site operating and delivery hours;
  • road, gate, vehicle-size or security restrictions;
  • inductions, personal protective equipment or booking requirements;
  • the on-site contact and reliable telephone number; and
  • the forklift, crane, loading dock, tail-lift or personnel available for safe unloading.

Delivery may be paused or rescheduled if the carrier cannot access the site or unload safely. If additional carrier charges arise because material access information was missing or inaccurate, or no agreed person or equipment was available, we may ask you to pay the reasonable documented cost. We will discuss the situation and available options with you.

CUSTOMER-ARRANGED CARRIERS

You may arrange your own carrier with our prior agreement. Send us the carrier details, collection reference, labels and any packing or documentation requirements early enough for us to confirm them. We will release the goods only after they are ready and the collection has been authorised.

Your carrier’s charges and service terms are between you and that carrier. Responsibility for loss, damage or delay will depend on the applicable law and the agreed arrangements, including who selected and booked the carrier. Using a customer-arranged carrier does not exclude any right or obligation that cannot lawfully be excluded.

DANGEROUS AND RESTRICTED GOODS

Some industrial goods, including batteries, pressurised items and goods containing fuel, oil, chemicals or other residues, may be dangerous or restricted for transport. They can only be shipped where lawful and where a suitable carrier accepts them.

Special packaging, declarations, permits or carrier charges may apply. We will discuss known requirements with you before dispatch. Do not return a dangerous or restricted product without first obtaining our written instructions.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

We accept international orders to countries and regions enabled at checkout. Product availability and shipping options may depend on the item, destination, carrier availability, export controls, sanctions laws, dangerous-goods requirements and local import restrictions.

For eligible international orders, freight charges are calculated at checkout using our current blanket international rates based on the total order weight and applicable shipping zone. Heavy, oversized, palletised, dangerous or restricted goods may require a separate written freight quote.

Unless the checkout or an accepted written quote expressly states otherwise, the customer is responsible for acting as importer of record and for obtaining required import permits and approvals. The customer is also responsible for destination-country customs duties, import taxes, brokerage fees, inspection charges and other import-related costs.

International customers are responsible for checking whether the products may lawfully be imported, installed and used in the destination country. We remain responsible for complying with our own export obligations.

If we cannot lawfully or reasonably ship an ordered product to the destination, we will contact you promptly. If no suitable alternative can be agreed, we will cancel the affected part of the order and refund the amount paid for it.

Nothing in this policy excludes any consumer right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded in the customer’s country or region.

TRACKING AND DELIVERY UPDATES

Where the carrier provides tracking, we will send the tracking details after booking or dispatch. Tracking events may not appear immediately, particularly for regional, pallet and specialist freight.

If an order is late or tracking has stopped updating, contact us. We will check the booking and work with the carrier rather than requiring you to resolve the matter alone.

LOSS OR DAMAGE IN TRANSIT

Please inspect the consignment as soon as reasonably possible. Where practical, note visible shortage or damage on the delivery record and take photographs of the goods, packaging, pallet and shipping labels.

Contact us promptly at enquiries@miningsurplus.com.au or 0499 436 167 with your order number and supporting details. Keep the goods and packaging while we investigate if it is safe to do so. Do not operate a damaged item if doing so may be unsafe.

We will investigate missing or damaged consignments with the carrier and provide the solution required by the applicable law and the agreed delivery arrangements. Handover to a courier or freight carrier does not, by itself, remove our legal responsibilities to you.
